Commissioned piece for *Falcolf! Technical stuff: Stallion's pose referenced from here: [link] Everything else I made up, which is probably why I hate the background right now.  Trees are the devil! I've also learned that I don't know how to paint palominos without making them SUPER MEGA SHINY MADE OF CHROME!!!  Content stuff: This is a scene from the story *Falcolf is writing, Emperor's Blood, which will be quite good judging by the excerpt she let me read!  Here's an excerpt of the excerpt for your enjoyment:He wasn’t worthy of such a creature’s presence. Eqaetz knew it with his heart and backed away in fear, ears flattened against his skull. It didn’t matter how beautiful he himself was or how his mother had been, they were nothing to this horse. He whinnied pitifully, begging the matriarch of a mare’s leave. He was just a stallion, a slave to man who had fallen into shame by his own coltish curiosity. Could she forgive such a wretched creature as himself? "You have done nothing that needs forgiving, Eqaetz born of storms," said the mare. "Your purpose has not yet begun." "Oh goddess Lady Spiira, I am nothing, nothing, to you," said Eqaetz in shame."
